Lawsuit Pays Off
Posted in Gambling News, Land Casinos, US Gambling, World Gambling by Casino Online Charlie | add commentsWhen former New York attorney Arelia Margarita Taveras stepped up to the stand last week she laid down a claim of $20 million against a group of eight casinos which she believed had let her down. She was addicted to gambling and lost upwards of $1 million in just two years, was disbarred for dipping into client funds to finance her addiction and faces an up hill battle to take her claim further after it was thrown out by a judge.
Ms Taveras named eight casino in her lawsuit which were the Resorts Atlantic City Casino, the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, Taj Mahal Casino Resort, the Tropicana Casino Resort, the Showboat Casino Hotel, Bally’s Atlantic City Casino and the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Each and every hotel has fought to have the lawsuit thrown out and eventually got their way today.
While Ms Taveras has pledged to fight on in her battle to prove the casinos had a liability to assist her and stop her from gambling, the chances of success are very small. The casinos believe that she brought everything onto herself by the way she acted and allegedly took money from third parties without permission. Only in the ole’ US of A would this kind of crap even stand a chance. Now he will have a bit of extra cash to play bingo Sat. nights.
